The new Global 8000 aircraft takes to the skies full of surprises and uncompromising innovation: a new member added to the large Bombardier family, aimed at the achievement of far-reaching goals.
The Global 800 sets a clear course towards positions of unprecedented and optimal heights – including the lowest cabin altitude in the industry – taking business aviation into a new era and heading towards distant boundaries, with impressive capabilities and the best performance ever.
Recently, in a predecessor Global 7500 test flight in the company of a NASA F/A-18 pursuit aircraft, this same airframe literally broke the sound barrier, achieving speeds in excess of Mach 1.015. With results never before achieved for a business jet, the new Global 8000 aims at immediately establishing itself at the top of aviation, with features unmatched for its category, well-deserving the title of world’s fastest business jet: at certified Mach Maximum Operational Speed (MMO) of M0.94, the fastest in civil aviation since the Concorde.
In this same demonstration flight, the new Global also became the first Transport Category supersonic aircraft to fly on Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ (SAF), the next-generation fuel composed of 100 per cent renewable waste and residual raw materials, with lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions of up to 80 per cent compared to fossil aviation fuel: clearly an expression of significant commitment to long-term environmental sustainability, and an important contribution and stimulus to the entire aviation industry.
For greatest comfort, especially on long-distance flights, the Global 8000 private jet features the lowest cabin altitude in its class, at 2,900 feet when flying at 41,000 feet … and that’s not all. This business jet meets an ambitious goal, opening the door to previously unheard-of navigation over long hauls: up to a whopping 8000 nautical miles (14,000 km). This record magnitude unlocks possibilities for travelling more city pairs than ever before, on unprecedented maxi-routes such as Dubai-Houston, Singapore to Los Angeles, and London-Perth, just as examples. Given its ability in accessing airports with less traffic and shorter runways, the Global 8000 opens to tens of thousands of route possibilities. These are all performances facilitated by the revolutionary Smooth Flex Wing, the system combining two functions in one: a high-lift wing for exceptional low-speed agility with steeper take-offs and landings, and an unrivalled high-speed, high range wing. Together with innovative super-efficient GE Passport engines, the result is both a smoother and more dynamic ride.
Complementing speed, the Global 8000 offers comfort and detail-oriented interior design combined with dedicated technology. With its revised dimensions, the aircraft can accommodate up to 19 guests and four crew members. The four spacious and customisable suites are ergonomically designed, maximising valuable on-board space for passenger comfort and ensuring agile freedom of movement. The innovative Nuage resting-system seats, with the first ever zero-gravity position, ensure passenger comfort. Other dramatic improvements come from the Soleil lighting system based on circadian rhythms: a revolutionary dynamic daylight simulation function that helps combat jet lag, fully integrated with the flight management system. An available Principal Suite offers a full-size bed and walk-in shower in the en-suite, assuring fully refreshed arrivals even after the longest flights.
For distraction from recurring business and an on-board shift to carefree time, alone or in company, the entertainment system offers the signature technological pairing of a 40-inch 4K monitor with Bombardier’s own l’Opéra seat-focused directional audio system of clean, rich sound. Controlling and completing this experience is the revolutionary in-cabin entertainment connectivity system, with intuitive and enjoyable CMS Touch and OLED touch dial.
Not only for the post-Covid era, but on the essential principles of healthy-flight experience, Bombardier’s Pũr Air system provides the cleanest cabin air and fastest fresh-air replacement ever, thanks to a newly advanced HEPA filter technology that captures up to 99.99% of particles, including viruses, allergens and bacteria. The system also features active carbon filters that remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs), unpleasant odours and gases. The service of delicious on-board dishes will never experience disturbance, paired solely with the aromas of good red wine.
The captain of this top jet also receives suitable attention, taking a seat in the renowned Vision cockpit with its next-generation fly-by-wire technology and state-of-the-art avionics, united with exceptional ergonomics and aesthetics for remarkable comfort and control.
Development of the Global 8000, due to enter service in 2025, is well underway and progressing completely according to plan. For current Global 7500 operators, the unprecedented performance improvements of the Global 8000 can be incorporated in their current aircraft when the new model enters service in 2025.
Owners of the Global 7500 will certainly not be dismayed by the advent of the new aircraft, because through a unique evolutionary process they will also be able to upgrade to the incredible performance levels of the Global 8000, integrating them through technical adaptations currently in design: relevant considerations in terms of preserving the value of the current aircraft.
Éric Martel, Bombardier’s President and Chief Executive Officer offers visionary words on this innovative special project: “Our recently launched Global 8000 aircraft will be the flagship for a new era of business jets to offer the discerning world traveller the ultimate inflight experience. Designed to be the fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet with the smoothest ride, the Global 8000 aircraft redefines what is possible when innovation and creativity are skilfully combined to craft the world’s leading business aircraft.”
Bombardier announces the Global 8000 with satisfaction, looking to enter the scene as an immediate and continuing protagonist, with a first appearance in the skies as early as 2025: adding to a current large fleet of near 5,000 aircraft in service and still with plenty of desire to fly.
