By CRN with Zuccon International Projectand Winch Design
The spectacular CLOUD 9, built by Italian company CRN and delivered in May of this year, is one of the biggest and most talked-about yachts of 2017.
The cutting-edge design is the work of Rome-based firm Zuccon International Project, responsible for the sweeping lines and exterior styling, and British company Winch Design, which focused on exterior guest areas and interior decoration, covering a surface area in excess of 1,000 sq.m, across five elegant decks. The result of their work, alongside that of the Ancona-based constructor, is this 74-metre yacht, built according to the detailed instructions of its current Owner.
CLOUD 9 is designed to accommodate up to 16 persons (12 when chartering) in eight elegant cabins, with the owner’s suite, a VIP cabin and six doubles. There is also space for 22 crew members and two cabins for four staff members.
This yacht stands out for its extensive open space areas, such as the private deck in front of the owner’s suite and the “beach club”, with an equipped beach area at sea level.
The living area at the bow of the vessel is a special party area, and is also ideal for moments of intimacy, far from prying eyes.
What immediately springs to view is the warm and youthful colours of the wood used, blended with marine-inspired elements and mother-of-pearl final touches.
The main deck leads to the swimming pool, lying athwart on the aft deck. This space is dedicated to relaxation and sunbathing. Going into the main saloon, we have harmonious symmetries and linear patterns, a source of pleasant tactile experiences, that are repeated in all interior spaces. Bleached oak adorns the walls and floors of the room, which contains comfortable sofas and armchairs.
With the aid of modern domotics, increasingly used and reliable on board yachts, the saloon can be turned into a cinema, with the appearance of a previously hidden screen and projector.
Along the main deck is a large spa area, with a massage table and even a 5-star hair salon, for the joy of the ladies.
Moving towards the bow there are the six guest cabins, in keeping with the design of the saloon, but each room having its own distinguishing features.
The domotics used in the cabins makes use of a “Lutron” system, which controls, via an iPad, the audio-video system, lighting and curtains in order to customise the room.
One of the boarding points of CLOUD 9 is located on the lower deck, where an exclusive foyer welcomes guests, and an elevator is present to take them to all other levels, including the owner’s suite.
The upper deck has a light-filled open space and a versatile dining area, offering a powerful indoor-outdoor experience when dining “al fresco” and enjoying beautiful sunsets. When the large circular table is removed a space an open-air party space is created, connected to the aft deck.
Private access to the owner’s deck –about 400 sq.m for the Owner and his family – leads directly to the multimedia room.
Designed as a private space for the family to relax in, it boasts a spacious sofa and large TV with a sliding door opening directly onto the aft deck.
This space can be , transformed into a fully-fledged private outdoor cinema.
The owner’s suite, with its centreline king-size bed, is extremely private and Intimate.
Interesting interior design elements are the leather inserts and piping on the double bed, and the single piece of mixed wool and silk white carpet covering the whole floor.
The sun deck is an area where guestscan relax and have fun, soaking up the rays while reclining on the loungers, slipping into the Jacuzzi or shooting down the water slide from a height of over 13 metres directly into the sea during the day. In the evening, the large circular table is used for elegant gourmet meals, while the bar offers informal aperitifs and is fully equipped for Teppanyaki-style cooking. There is also a well-equipped fitness area, for keeping fit even on holiday. There is a large area devoted to water toys, with two garages, housing two tenders.
The portside garage affords access to the water, and opens onto a 25 sq.m sea-level platform. The large beach club, over 60 sq.m in size, comes complete with comfortable tables, loungers and a shower, ideal for the Caribbean and coral reef areas.
Delivering a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots, Cloud 9 will be able to travel long distances with the lightness of a cloud passing over the ocean.
